This has been a Janata Dal constituency for a long time now. RJD was able to make a little inroad here in 2000, but in last two elections, JD(U) candidate won by good margins. Quite inexplicably, when the entire state voted for JD(U), Fatwah changed tracks and chose a RJD candidate!
