East Champaran had 12 constituencies in Bihar Assembly for 2005 Elections: Raxaul, Sugauli, Motihari, Adapur, Dhaka, Ghorasahan, Madhuban, Pipra, Kesariya, Harsidhi, Govindganj, Kateya. After the delimitation rule came into effect, East Champaran now has 13 Vidhansabha constituencies. The new ones are: Chiraia, Kalyanpur and Narkatiya.
