Oscars results are out, Avatar does fairly bad

Academy Awards 2010 ceremonies were held on 7th March and the verdict is out: The Hurt Locker has got all the awards, while James Cameron’s Avatar got no where as expected.

The Hurt Locker, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, was assumed to be a front runner to The Oscars 2010. However, no one expected it to single handedly steal the show and the thunder from James Cameron’s epic movie Avatar.

The Hurt Locker won 6 awards including the major one’s like Best Picture, Directing, Film Editing, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Writing (Original Screenplay). avatar, clearly the viewers favourite was expected to win the Best Director and Best picture awards by many, but that did not happen. A movie which shattered the All Time box office records world-wide as well as in US, did not see even one award going to the Director James Cameron. It did win some other awards like Art Direction, Cinematography and Visual Effects.

The 2009 Oscars had created a lot of buzz in India especially due to Slumdog Millionaire’s success at the awards. Although this year there was no Indian connection at the awards, people in India still followed the Oscars 2010 with equal passion.
