It doesn't get bigger than this, no really. The movie has been awaited for a long time, and everyone was curious to see how the world ends in 2012. Finally, when you get to see it on the big screen, you are left thinking if this is really going to happen to you in 2012.
The movie starts with a very brief introduction to the Mayan doomsday prophecy. Not much is told about it. It's shown that an Indian scientist has found the warning signals in 2009 itself and over the next 3 years, all that the major nations in the world are doing is creating a survival plan for the human species.
The first half of the movie is quite engrossing. Time flies literally, because some of the best scenes are when the hero tries to escape in the plane with his family. First half is all about mass destruction, big cities getting submerged under water and the survival plans.
Second hald is little boring, especially the lst 20 minutes or so. When the world is coming to an end and major leaders of the world are sitting on a Arc boat along with chosen animals from different species to help them survive extinction, it seems quite awkward to listen to preachings from a man. When billions of people have died across the world, an emotional speech to save some hundreads doesn't make much sense, especially when that can easily geopardise the fate of all survivors, which is what almost happens in the end.
However, overall, it all ended well and as they say "What end's well, is well.".
For its excellent first half, for its fast paced storyline and for some of the mind-blowing scened, you must go and watch the movie in the theaters.
