![]() Three Idiots Movie Review
When there's purity in your thoughts and your vision is noble, the heart will always say "All is well". Such is the case with Aamir Khan's Three idiots. It's a simple story told through pure passion. The story reflects the thoughts of millions of Indians, who have had to leave something they liked to do something which their parents wanted.
Aamir Khan plays the character of Rancho, who joins the Engineering College and becomes the best of friends with his roommates, played by R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi. Madhavan wanted to be a photographer, but took to Engineering because his parent wanted him to. Sharman Joshi is from a poor family and only wants to earn money to support his family. Rancho comes first in the Class and then suddenly vanishes. The movie takes you on a journey to find Rancho and uncover the reason why he left.
Three Idiots is aptly supported by its starcast. Madhavan and Sherman both act superbly. Aamir, himself in his 40's, but acting for a guy in his early 20's, delivers another amazing performance. Kareena Kapoor, in the small parts where she comes, does justice to her role.
The movie has everything going right for it. It's not so much about the story, but about the way it's brought to you. Every single person will be able to relate to it. A father will know that's exactly what he has done to his child, a child will know that's exactly how he has succembed to his parents pressures. Maybe, after watching this movie, some people will take initiative to change things, to make the system better, to let people decide their lives and not force them to do things.
The movie does have its weak moments, some scenes, like the suicide of Rancho's friend, seems very scripted. Also, the movie shows everything coming to the guys too easily. The real life is not that easy. To wish to become something is one thing, but not to have the capability and still wish for something won't lead you anywhere. That's one point the movie fails to bring forward. The end of the movie is also quite weak and doesn't elicit the emotions one keeps holding while watching the movie, but overall, Aamir proves he is the best once again.
Aamir Khan's movies always teach you something about life. Be it Taare Zameen pe or Three Idiots, the movie teaches you a lot. For some parents, the movie will look like a curse, and probably most parents will feel the movie teaches their child to revolt against their wishes, but in reality the movie is just all about understanding the wishes of child and helping him to fulfill those wishes. The sooner parents start to understand this, the better future India holds... |
