Situated in the heart of India is the state of Madhya Pradesh. With around 50 districts, Madhya Pradesh is one of the largest states in India. Madhya Pradesh Parliamentary elections generally see a two way confrontation between the BJP and the Congress. The regional parties generally do not have much say here.
BJP was voted back to power after the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls in 2008. Since then, BJP has strengthened its support base in the state. The Congress is faction-ridden and currently seems to lack strong party organization, putting it on the backfoot. The BSP can emerge as the third force by doing well in the 4 seats bordering Uttar Pradesh.
Polling Date for 29 Lok Sabha seats of Madhya Pradesh are 23rd and 30th April'2009.

2004 Results from Madhya Pradesh:
As you can see, Madhya Pradesh Election sees a clear fight between the BJP and the Congress. The 2004 Parliamentary elections saw BJP winning 25 seats and Cong just 4. A miniscule percentage of the votes go to the BSP, as can be seen from the Assembly Election results in which BJP got 144 seats, Cong got 71 and BSP just 7.
In the assembly elections, although BJP won with 144 seats, it must be taken into consideration that its vote share actually dwindled and it had 29 seats less than 2004 tally. COngress on the other hand won 71 seats as compared to just 38 in 2004.
