Gandhi Ashram Pride of Gujarat and India:
Mahatama Gandhi was born in porbandar in 1869 AD. Lacs of Indian tourists visit the house of the Mahatama and Kasturba, his wife. Kirti Mandir has a Gandhian library and a prayer hall.On a quiet stretch of the river Sabarmati, 7 kms north of the city, Mahatma Gandhi set up a
simple retreat in 1915. This was his first Satyagraha Ashram and for many it was the nerve
centre of India's freedom movement. Many national and international leaders visited Gandhiji at the ashram, and it was whilst living here that Mohandas Gandhi came to be known as Mahatma Gandhi.
Hridaya Kunj, the cottage where Gandhiji lived is preserved as it was in the Mahatma's lifetime. The Gandhi Ashram has a memorial centre, library and a sound and light spectacle to offer its visitors. |

Navratri Festival:
An inseparable part of the identity of Gujarat, Navratri is an auspicious occasion that commemorates the worship of Divine Mother Goddess and her numerous manifestations. It is the time of the year when one fasts all day and dances non-stop the night through; an opportunity to savour the state in her finest best.

Dwarka:
Dwarka which was known as Suvarna Dwarka (the golden Dwarka) had been very prosperous and hence got the name. The Dwarkadhish temple honours Krishna Bhagwan and attracts thousands of pilgrims from different parts of the country. The Dwarka of Krishna's time lies submerged under the Arabian Sea. Tradition has itthat Krishna's residence was at Bet Dwarka, a few kms from the mainland Dwarka. |
International Kite Festival:
In the year 1989, a new festival was born in India. Called the International Kite Festival, this event sought to take kite flying to the tourist by inviting participants from all over the world to competitions and displays of kites and kite-flying skills. January 13 was the day of the inauguration of the first International Kite Festival. A special Patang Nagar was created for the three-day festival and the 'city of kites' opened its doors to bazaars displaying hundreds of thousands of kites and 'reels' of infinite variety. Gifted craftsmen demonstrated age-old kite-making skills and how to prepare the thread used for kite flying. Little red paper-kites vied with those of the masters from Japan, USA, UK and other countries. As participants tied threads to their 'toys', excited spectators watched shapes such as eagles and snakes soar into the skies. Cloth, paper, fiberglass et al, are now being used to make kites. |

Gir Wildlife Sanctuary:
Sprawling in an area of 1424 sq. kms., Gir with its dry deciduous forest is a luxuriantly rich ecosystem-endowed with floral and faunal plentitude. Thirty species of mammals, twenty species of reptiles, several species of insects and birds are found here. The forest is the only place in the world, outside Africa, where the lion can be seen in its natural habitat. Gir, the last refuge of the king of the jungle, is one of the largest and most important wildlife sanctuaries in India. |

Balasonoir: 90 km from Ahmedabad on Indore ahmedabad highway & 20 km from city Raoli, this is a small beautiful village covered with small hillocks and lush green paddy fields. On top of the hills, fossils of dinosaurs are found in plenty lying here and there. After 2 hrs trip to this land, come back to the city Balasonoir and have Nawabi lunch with the Nawab of Balasonoir. Excellent foods are served in Nawabi style in Nawabi dining room specialy the Nawabi 400 years old Byriani with 150 spices used(non veg veg).
Lothal: 90 km from Ahmedabad on ahmedabad-rajkot highway. From Dholera, it'sjust 20 km ahead. You discover the amazing 5000 years old civilizations of Harappa Kingdom. Still the ancient rivers, ruins of modern archtectures of the city are visible. One small restaurant and a well maintained Museum is available for knowledge of the place. Explore whole day and see the most scientific city system that prevailed over 5000 years ago and bask in the beautiful sunset from the ruins of Harappa. |
