Dussehra Festival comes to an end with Ravana’s Demise

Goodness triumphed over evil once more, as the Dussehra festival came to an end today. Ravana’s effigy was burned all over India and people celebrated the win on Lord Rama over the evil. This also marked the end of the nine day long Navratri festivals in India.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi were present at the Ram Lila grounds in New Delhi to see the burning of Ravana’s effigy. The traditional Ram Lila celebrations and the subsequent fireworks in the Ram Lila ground of New Delhi is world famous and attracts not just locals but a lot of foreigners too.

Although Durga Puja ends today, it just marks the beginning of bigger joys to come as Diwali is just round the corner and will be celebrated on Oct 17th across India.
