Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, headed by Raj Thackrey, suffered a huge setback on Monday when its vice president as well as joint secretary quit MNS to join its arch rival, Shiv Sena. The husband-wife duo of Sanjan and Sanjay Ghadi returned back to Shiv Sena, from which they moved out almost 3 years back.
MNS has been seeing a drift of its top leaders to Shiv Sena for quite sometime now. Earlier, women’s wing office-bearer Shweta Parulekar left it, followed by Prakash Mahajan, brother of the slain Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan. Shiv Sena has been building up its strength for the upcoming Oct 13th Maharashtra Assembly Polls 2009.
List of prominent joiners in Shiv Sena with an eye on the upcoming elections, also includes television personality Aadesh Bandekar and the first Indian Idol and popular singer Abhijeet Sawant. Abhijeet is expected to be fielded as a candidate from one of the constituencies in Mumbai.
