It was a highly awaited Diwali weekend for Indian Boxoffice. As with previous years, all eyes were on the movies releasing during Diwali as it’s the best time of the year to get people to the theaters. This Diwali, three Bollywood movies released at the Box office, Blue, All the Best and Main Aurr Mrs Khanna.
The Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt starrer Blue was probably the one which created the maximum buzz. The movie had the right publicity going for it, had some of the best actors, good songs and thus, most of the shows nationwide were booked in advance. Eventually, Blue started well and is said to have done a net business of Rs 195 million (Rs 19.50 crore) in the first three days itself.
Ajay Devgn starrer All The Best was second in line and similar to past two years when Ajay Devgan’s Golmal and Golmal Returns did well at the box office, everyone expected All the Best to do well as well. The movie did not disappoint by postng a net business of Rs 100 million (Rs 10 crore) in its opening weekend in India.
The only movie losing out in the Diwali euphoria was the Salman Khan starrer Main Aurr Mrs Khanna. The movie was a grim portrayal of the lives of a married couple and probably the movie did not justify a Diwali time release because Diwali is the time of happiness and fun, not of being sad. The Box Office Collections showed it’s poor performance as the movie made just Rs 15 million (Rs 1.50 crore).
