Looking at September 2009 Bollywood Collections

A lot of movies released in Bollywood in the month of September, but not many movies did well. Although Sep started the festive season in India with Eid and Dussehra, the feel good factor was translated to movie earnings only by two movies: Love Aaj Kal and Wanted, which released in last week of Sep.

There were movies like Quick Gun Murugun (Hindi) which made a,lot of hype, but unfortunately they failed to bring the audience to the theaters. Aage Se Right, Kissan and Daddy Cool had big banner actors and production houses behind them, but they vanished without a trail. Shahid Kapoor starrer Kaminey did get a lot of critical acclaim, but its Bollywood Box office returns were nothing to boast off. At the end of the day, Kaminey was declared just a semi-hit.

By the end of Sep, it was safe to declare Love Aaj Kal as a super hit movie. In total, the movie has earned Rs. 65,86,00,000, which is pretty impressive. Apart from the success of Love Aaj Kal, Wanted starring Salman Khan brought some joy to the producers and multiplex owners in the later part of Sep. It’s expected that Wanted will continue to remain strong in Oct and emerge as a Super Hit movie.
