Jharkhand Phase II Polls are scheduled for Dec 2nd. Of the total 259 candidates appearing for the polls, as many as 48 candidates have some or the other criminal record against them.
With all the recent scams uncovering fast in Jharkhand, and it being one of the poorest states in India because of the rampant corruption all around, one would have thought that the Political parties will at least try to project candidates with a clean image. But unfortunately, out of the 48 candidates with criminal records, almost half have some serious charges pending against them, such as murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, extortion, etc. These candidates are divided across each party, with JMM and AJSU fielding seven such candidates each, the Bharatiya Janata Party has five while the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal have four each, and the (JD-U) has three.
Jharkhand’s Assembly Elections started with the first phase of polls which were held on 25th Nov. The remaining phases are scheduled to be held on 2nd, 8th, 12th and 18th Dec. The results will be declared on 23rd Dec 2009.
On a more hilarious note, the Baap of all cons in Jharkhand, Madhu Koda was himself on the verge of being conned by a man named Vipul Joshi from Thane, Maharashtra. Vipul, like million other Indians, knew of the magnitude of scam done by Madhu Koda and decided to make some financial gains out of it. He chose the simplest way, posing as an Enforcement Directorate Official, and demanding Koda to pay him 10 crore, in return of closing all the cases against him. However, the Vigilance Dept came to know of this and the guy is currently spending 14 days of Judicial custody in Birsa Munda Central jail at Hotwar.
