De Dana Dan and Paa released at the Indian Box Office recently. Both the movies had a long promotion and built-up to their release, and as such industry insiders had high hopes from the two. But it now seems, both the movies will just be near-hits and not major blockbusters.
Paa had Amitabh Bachchan playing the role of a 13 year old suffering from progeria. Abhishek Bachchan played the role of his father, and as such the movie gathered a lot of attention. However, the opening on Friday was not as grand as thought off. Monday saw the movie making around 1.75 crore, which takes its 4 days total to 12.75 crore nett. Paa is likely to make around 17 crore in total.
De Dana Dan was released a week before Paa. After one of the most hilarious comedies of recent times “Hera Pheri”, this was the first time that Director Priyadarshan teamed up with Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal. Naturally, everyone expected a laugh riot. However, the reviews were not that bright for the movie and to weeks running collections prove the movie hasn’t done as expected. The first week for the movie was very decent, mainly on the expectations from public. It managed to earn 34.12 crore in its first week at the Box Office, however, the second week business has fallen. It has just earned 6.50 crore in 4 days of the second week. The movie is expected to end its run at the Indian Box Office at around 50 crore, making it a semi-hit.
