73 innocent CRPF men killed by Maoists at Dantewada

In the worst attack of its kind in recent times, maoists ambushed and killed 73 CRPF men in the thick Mukrana forests of Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district.

72 Central Reserve Police Force men, including a deputy and an assistant commandant, and a head constable of the district police force are supposed to be dead. They were part of a 80 member CRPF and district police team sent to the forest to chase down the maoists. The maoists seems to be waiting for them as over 1000 maoists ambushed the group and executed them. The CRPF unit belonged to the 68 Battalion.

This is just another case of Govt apathy towards the life of innocent policemen. While senior officials and politicians sit in the luxury of their air conditioned homes, innocent policemen are sent to fight without proper planning or equipments. Corruption is so rampant that the inside plans are leaked to maoists as soon as they are made. Govt shows its serious about tackling the maoists menance, but if it really was serious, the maoists would never have grouped to become such a strong force. Until the politicians and the higher strata of police force wake up and move out of their comfort zone and really start thinking of the welfare of the country, the maoists will continue to get stronger and the innocent lifes will be lost…
