Times Square has been evacuated once again following a bomb scare. Just a week back, on 1st May, a car bomb was found in a Nissa Pathfinder car.
This time, the suspicious object has been located near 45th Street and Broadway. The bomb squad is currently working, trying to determine if it really is a bomb or threat. The entire area has been cordoned off and evacuated.
The place is quite near to where the May 1st car bomb was discovered. After two days of the earlier incident, police were able to arrest a Pakistani-born US citizen Faisal Shahzad, who was found responsible for planning of the car bomb. Ever since the episode of 1st May, police have been receiving several calls about unidentified packages around Times Square, proving that visitors to the area are still jittery.
A second bomb scare can really prove disastrous for business and tourist confidence in the area. Times Square is one of the most active places in New York, and if it is identified that the current scare is really a bomb, it will just lead to more panic around the region.
