Maoists strike once more at Dantewada, kill 40

Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh is soon turning out to be a dreaded place for police forces fighting the Maoists. In just about 5 weeks time since the last attacks, Maoists attacked a bus carrying the police force today killing 40.

The attack today marks the deviation of Maoists from just killing police personnels to also killing innocent civilians. The bus was carrying 30 locals and 20 special police officers of the Jharkhand police. Landmines were place on the main cemented road, and the bus was completely blown to pieces. Govts tall claims of doing all they can to fight the Maoists now seems ridiculous and Maoists keep making mockery of the way our defence Minister is handling things.

Maoists had been warnign the local population against supporting the police or giving them lifts on buses or bikes. Obviously, the locals did not agree with it and kept supporting the police. Today’s attack is being seen as a retaliation by Maoists to teach the locals a lesson.

In an earlier Dantewada attack on April 6th, Maoists had killed 75 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force. No CRPF man was on the bus today.
