Monsoon season has finally started in India, with the onset of first rains in coastal regions of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
Kerala is said to be the monsoon gateway of India. The first showers of Indian monsoon always arrives in Kerala, generally from the coastal areas of Thiruvananthapuram. The Met. dept. at Lakshadweep and Kerala track the rains for a continuous two days before the declaration of monsoons. The predictions have come true this year, as Met Dept said long back that monsoons will arrive by May 30th in Kerala.
The monsoon will next arrive from the North-east in Agartala. As rains in Kerala signal the arrival of monsoons from the south, similarly, rains in Agartala signal the arrival of monsoons from the North-east.
India has been going through scorching heat waves since April. Especially in places of Northern India, temperatures reached over 45 C on several days. The arrival of monsoon will finally bring respite to all. Besides, monsoons hold importance for Indian economy as well, and a good monsoon will also help to get the economy back on track.
