Indian Navy launches water-jet propelled attack crafts

INS Cankarso and INS Kondul were launched by the Indian Navy at Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

After the Mumbai terror attacks, the patrolling of our seas, especially the western coast has become an integral part of national security. In such times, introduction of two new water-jet propelled crafts with speed and attack accuracy is a shot in the army for Indian Navy.

The two ships have been named after two islands situated off the coast of Goa and in Nicobar. The ships will be deployed in Goa and they have a displacement of 325 tons each and reach a speed of 35 knots. Each has a complement of four offices and 45 sailors.
