Saina Nehwal, the World Number 3 in badminton, returned to India after winning her third consecutive tournament.
Saina Nehwal has created a record by winning three tournaments in a row. She had earlier won the Indian Open Grand Prix and the Singapore Open Super Series and then completed a hat-trick of three consecutive wins by winning the Indonesian Open Super Series in Indonesia on Sunday. She defeated Japan’s Sayaka Sato 21-19, 13-21, 21-11 in a 45 min encounter. Although, no major Chinese player was participating in the tournament because of local club competitions, this win takes nothing away from the effort and excellent game play Sania has shown in the recent months.
She now aims to go for the World number 1 ranking. A step in this direction will be to show good performances in the three major tournaments coming ahead, starting with the World Championship, followed by the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games and lastly the Asian Games.
