Heavy rainfall forced the route of Amarnath Ji caves to remain closed for the second consecutive day, leaving over 20000 devotees stranded.
2,244 pilgrims are left stranded at Ramban on the Srinagar-Jammu highway as they had already left their base camp at Jammu when the rains started. 7,427 are stuck at Shehsnag on the Pahalgam side, while 5,801 were stranded at Baltal. Remaining pilgrims are not allowed to leave the base camp in Jammu. Adequate measures are being taken by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board so that the pilgrims can be provided with the basic necessities.
The Amarnath Ji yatra began on July 1st and will commence on Aug 24th. So far the yatra has remained peaceful. Although 3 deaths have been reported, but all three have died because of heart-attacks.
