Indigenous naval Light Combat Aircraft unveiled

Indigenous naval Light Combat Aircraft, NP1, was unveiled in Bangalore on July 6th. This is expected to further strengthen the Indian Navy.

Developed at Bangalore-based Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), the NP1 is the only carrier-borne light category aircraft in the world. It will go through a series of tests and if successful, will be added to the Navy. The LCA is equipped with state-art-technology and the GE-F-404-IN20 engine. It is designed for Ski-jump Take Off But Arrested Recovery (STOBAR) operations.

The aircraft NP1 will be deployed on the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) by 2015. It is currently being build in Cochin.
