Manipur heads towards another blockade from tomorrow

Barely a month has passed when Manipur escaped from the economic blockade called by local parties. But some other organization has again declared a bandh in Manipur starting 4th Aug.

The United Naga Council (UNC), a frontal organization of Manipur-based Naga tribes, has decided to go ahead with its earlier declared 20-day economic blockade. The Congress led Govt has already seen the troubles the local community has to go through when such blockades are done, but despite that it took no efforts to avoid this new one.

So 4th of August, people of Manipur will wake up to a very similar site. the National Highways 39 and 53, which act as the lifeline of Manipur, will be blocked. This means scarcity of food, petrol and day to day commodities. Prices of all essential products will rise. Quite naturally, most people in Manipur were seen to be stocking resources today itself.

What has been amazing is the failure of the Congress Govt at the Center and State levels to look into the matter. the warning by the Naga Tribe was issued on the 27th July, but the Govt did not bother to sort out the problems.
