Bihar Assembly Election 2010 schedule announced

2010 Bihar Assembly Election will be held in a month long exercise, to be held in 6 phases starting on 20th Oct and ending on 19th Nov.

The Election Commission of India declared the schedule today for the upcoming elections in Bihar. it was speculated for a very long time that the elections will be held in Nov.

There will be a total of 243 constituencies going to polls of which 38 are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 2 for the Scheduled Tribes. A total of 5,50,88,402 electors will be eligible to vote in this years polls across 56,943 polling stations. Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used across all polling stations.

Here are the dates for each Phase of elections:

Phase I: 21st Oct (Thursday)
Phase II: 24th Oct (Sunday)
Phase III: 28th Oct (Thursday)
Phase IV: 1st Nov (Monday)
Phase V: 9th Nov (Tuesday)
Phase VI: 20th Nov (Saturday)
