Amidst all the cacophony of the Commonwealth Games, Bollywood saw two major releases last week. Anjaana Anjaani starring Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir kapoor, and Robot, starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai.
Anjaana Anjaani is the story of two people who are about to commit suicide and then decide to give life another chance. The movie has been well received by audience in metropolitan cities and is doing well in multiplexes across North India as well as Mumbai.
Robot is the story of a robot created by a scientist who starts to gain feelings and fells in love with its creators girlfriend. A war ensues and how the creator wins the battle forms the whole story. The film has superb graphics when compared to the Indian standards. Robot is the Hindi version of the Tamil film Enthiran. While Enthiran is doing exceptionally well in South India, people in North India have not quite warmed up to it yet. The movie was able to do a Box Office business of just Rs. 1.75 Crore from the Northern circle on its first day. In South, it’s going to become the highest grossing Tamil film for sure.
Several news reports were speculating that Enthiran will cross the earnings of Aamir Khan’s Three Idiots, however, as of now that seems very unlikely. The movie may be able to challenge Dabangg, which currently is the second highest grosser in Bollywood history.
