HTC has been aggressively promoting its handset range for the past few years, and now with the upcoming release of HTC Desire HD, HTC seems to be finally in a winner’s seat.
HTC has been available in the Indian market for over a decade now. We have heard and used HTC made products like iMate Jamin and HTC windows mobile. With the release of Android OS, and release of HTC Desire on Android platform, people started noticing HTC mobiles. Currently, HTC has a few winners in the form of HTC EVO (which won’t make it to India in near future), HTC HD2 and the upcoming HTC Desire HD.
HTC HD2 has been an instant hit ever since its release. The phone comes with a 4.3 inch TFT screen, 448 MB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor and a 5 MP camera with dual LED flash. The only drawback HD2 seemed to have for many was that it came on the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform, and with the release of Win mobile 7, you can expect apps and games for 6.5 to be fading out soon. However, people at XDA-developers, an android based community, made things easier by porting Android OS to HD2. Although some glitches and lags remain, but running Android on HD2 is still pretty smooth.
HTC HD2 is available at all major HTC outlets in India at a price of Rs. 27,500.
HTC Desire HD was launched in US in the last week of September and has been receiving great reviews ever since. The phone can be considered an Android counterpart of HTC Evo 4G. It comes with a 4.3 inch LCD capacitive touchscreen, with 768 MB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8255 1 GHz processor and 8 MP camera with dual-LED flash. The best part is that HTC Desire HD comes native on Android 2.2. This in itself gives it a massive boost over Windows based HD2. one will wonder why HTC decided not to go with AMOLED screen as that’d have helped conserve battery life as well.
Desire HD is not yet launched in India, but rumours suggest that it’d be here as early as last week of Dec. Merchants have been selling the phone on Ebay India for about 2 months now, from prices ranging from 34K to 42K. Flipkart has become the first site in India to start accepting the pre-orders for the cell phone, and that too at a cost of just Rs. 27,499.
