Sikhs across India celebrated the 345th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh on Tuesday.
Amritsar and the Golden Temple saw a wave of devotees thronging to the Temple for prayers and holy dip. Guru Gobind Singh’s birthplace is in Patna Sahib, where he was born on December 22, 1666, but Golden Temple at Amritsar sees a lot of visitors because it is considered to be one of the most holy places by the Sikh community.
Guru Gobind Singh is said to have sacrificed his life to save Sikhism from the cruelty and forced conversion of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. He was the 10th and last Guru of the Sikhs.
