Our beloved agriculture minister Sharad Pawar must be a tired man. At the age of 70, he finds himself defending links to every major scam that emerges in India.
Sharad Pawar has been defending himself almost non-stop ever since his and his families involvement with IPL teams came out in the open. While Pawar said he or his family memebers had no role in IPL team bidding process, reports showed his daughter and wife had a part in a company which bid for an IPL cricket team.
After the IPL scam came the issue of rising sugar prices. Pawar predicted a shortage of sugar and taking the cue, hoarders across the country helped in short supply of sugar, and prices shot up. Quite recently pawar repeated his sweet mistake by claiming that prices of onions won’t stabilize for next 3 weeks. Guess what, prices really did not come down for next month!
Lavasa, modern India’s first planned township also is now under environment minister’s scanning for apparently breaking laws. And Pawar has been linked with getting approvals for Lavasa as well!
Now the recent trouble for Pawar is the arrest and involvement of Shahid Balwa in the 2G scam. Sources say Balwa is a close associate of Sharad pawar, news stemming out from the fact that Balwa has a stake in a company which is located in Pawar’s hometurf Baramati.
So overall, if any scam breaks out in India, somehow or the other, Sharad Pawar seems to be connected to it. This hasn’t yet affected his political future and he just seems to be getting stronger every day, but only time will tell if there’s any truth in these allegations or if Sharad Pawar is innocent.
