11 convicts of the infamous Godhra train burning have been given death sentence while 20 others have got a life sentence.
Special judge P R Patel said the crime amounted to being “rarest of rare” and 11 convicts deserved the death penalty. On Feb 27th 2002, the S6 coach of Sabarmati Express train near Godhra was set on fire by a Muslim mob killing 67 innocent men. the verdict has come after a long 9 year wait.
Congress continues to play the issue for its political gains. Even after the court verdict, the Law minister Veerappa Moily said the court’s order did not justify the riots that followed the train burning. Law Minister is supposed to be impartial, devoid of any political party or religious affiliations, but our Congress Law Minister is more busy in garnering votes for his [party than facing the truth. We all know the riots were not correct, but after the court verdict, we now also know that people carried out the attack in a planned manner and instigated Gujarat for a riot.
