Cricket lovers dream of a Pakistan vs India encounter in a Cricket World Cup match. And this year, we will have that in the first semi final match to be played on 30th Mar, Wednesday.
India beat Australia by 5 wickets in an exciting match on 24th March. Chasing 260 runs, India reached 261 in 47.4 overs, thanks largely to the solid start by Tendulkar and a brilliant innings by Yuvraj Singh. Earlier Ponting played a gem of an inning and scored a wonderful century to propel Australia to 260 for 6. This may be Ponting’s last World Cup match. India looked comfortable in chasing till the time Dhoni gave his wicket away with India needed another 71 runs to win. Thankfully Raina and Yuvraj made sure that Dhoni’s wicket did not cost India the match.
Next week Wednesday, 30th March, we all will witness the most exciting contest of the tournament. India vs Pakistan has always been exciting. Who can forget the Kiran More-Miandad monkey jumping episode from 1992 World cup game, or the Venkatesh Prasad-Aamir Sohail spat in the 1999 World cup. The two teams may not have same animosity as before now, but still no true Indian wants to lose to a Pakistani team. In the 4 world cup cricket matches that India has played against Pakistan till date, it has won all 4. We all will hope for an encore on 30th March.
