We all know Mamata Banerjee the politician, but now Didi has come up with a whole new avatar as her paintings got sold for more than a Crore.
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has been known to be a casual painter till now. But recently, when she decided to sell a collection of 95 paintings for hers, they all got sold within 3 days, fetching her more than a Crore Rupees.
The three day sale and exhibition of her paintings was held at a private art gallery ‘Gallerie 88′ in Kolkata. The exhibition was inaugurated by noted painter Jogen Chowdhury and was titled “25 Hours in A Day”. The buyers of her paintings include industrialist Harsh Neotia, Jay Mehta, co-owner of IPL franchisee Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Jagmohan Dalmiya, the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
With the good feedback she has received, Mamata has now decided to paint some more and utilize the funds to support herself and her party. She is already quite busy with her campaigns for the upcoming West Bengal elections 2011, which starts on April 18th and ends on May 10th.
