Sri Sathya Sai Baba passed away at Puttaparthi at the age of 86 on the morning of Sunday, April 24th.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba has a huge list of followers across the world. His devotees span across 178 countries. His Sathya Sai Baba Centres are spread across 114 countries. The Sathya Sai Central Trust manages and operates the entire operation.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba was born in Puttaparthi to Eswaramma and Peddavenkama Raju Ratnakaram on Nov 23, 1926 as Sathyanarayana Raju. At the age of 14, he proclaimed himself to be a reincarnation of Sai Baba of Shirdi and was ever since known as Sai Baba.
He was admitted to hospital four weeks back and his conditioned kept deteriorating. After his demise today morning, his funeral has been fixed for April 27th. Sai Kulwant Hall has been chosen as the place where his body will be kept on Monday and Tuesday, so that the devotees can come and pay their last respects. Sai Kulwant Hall is where Baba used to perform bhajans and celebrate his birthday. He will be buried there on Wednesday morning.
With the death of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, questions are being raised as to who will manage his Rs. 40,000 crore Sathya Sai Central Trust. Sathya Sai Baba did not name a successor to head the trust.
