Star News Opinion Poll gives clear majority to Mamata

Star News Opinion poll for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections has given a clear majority to Mamata Banerjee.

Everyone has been expecting of a very close battle between Mamata Banerjee’s TMC and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee led Left Front. Left has enjoyed unopposed rule in West Bengal for the past 35 years, and it is facing the toughest polls in recent times.

Star News Exit/Opinion Poll gave a clear edge to Mamata Banerjee led TMC, giving TMC and Congress combine a staggering 215 seats out of a total of 294 constituencies! It has predicted only 74 seats for the Left front. If you consider the 2006 results, this looks unbelievable. In 2006, Left won 227 seats while TMC got just 51. BJP, which was unable to open account in 2006, has been predicted to win 2 seats.

If Mamata does win the polls on her own, it’d be interesting to see if she decided to keep Congress in the coalition Govt.
