Assembly election results are almost out and women power has risen and is shining bright. Mamata and Jayalalitha have registered BIG wins.
West Bengal saw the biggest change in decades. Red brigade’s citadel has fallen and a woman alone was responsible for it. Congress tried to fight red in Bengal but was never successful, but Mamata alone took on the LEFT Front and has now shown them the door. Ever since Singur and Nadigram incidents, LEFT was on back foot and they paid heavily.
Tamil Nadu saw people rejecting Congress and DMK, the parties behind the 2G scam. DMK distributed free Tv, which proved counter productive because even rural voters saw the news of scam and came to know how DMK and Congress were involved in it. Jayalalitha has come back to power with a huge win. Congress may yet change sides and decide to support Jayalalitha’s AIADMK, but Jaya doesn’t really need their support.
Kerala is still a neck to neck race. LDF and UDF are almost ahead on similar number of seats which is a setback for Congress, as Rahul himself chose the candidates in Kerala and was expecting a huge victory.
Assam has saved Congress blushes by giving an almost clear mandate. But, Assam it is less of Congress win and more of opposition’s loss as BJP and AGP fought the elections without coming in an alliance.
Pondicherry may well see ADMK joining hands with BJP to form the Govt. Congress may emerge as the largest party, but the rebel Congress leaders who fought the polls have hurt their chances.
