Shaitan, X-Men: First Class fail to dampen Ready earnings

Ready has been going strong in it’s second week as well and new releases like Shaitan and X-Men: First Class failed to make an impact on its earnings.

Shaitan movie

With an ensemble of new actors, Shaitan is the story of 5 youngsters set in the urban scape of Mumbai. Amy, Dash, KC , Zubin and Tanya. The movie’s story may not be that different, but the portrayal is definitely fresh and appealing. It opened to good reviews from all around, but failed to dazzle at the Box Office. In the first three days of its opening, the movie has made around Rs. 3 Crore. It’s expected to do lesser business in weekdays and it’d be interesting to see how it fares in next weekend.

Second movie that released last week in India was X-Men: First Class. No doubt the movie was good and it has given the X-Men franchise a much needed push for at least a couple of movies. X-Men: First Class review has also been good, but the movie did not set the boxoffice on fire. It did a business of about Rs. 4.75 Crore in its weekend collections which can not be termed as good.

Some other releases from last week like Love Express have been a total dud at the Box Office, with Love Express managing to do a business of just about Rs. 25 Lakhs.

Salman Khan in ready

The real beneficiary of both Shaitan and X-Men not doing well has been Salman Khan’s Ready, which incidentally opened to bad reviews but has been having good collections across India. Ready has already been declared a blockbuster movie and it amassed over Rs. 65 Crore in its first week. It’s still going strong in its second week and as there are no big releases this week, except Bheja Fry 2, it will continue to enjoy good collections for third week as well. Ready may end up doing a business of Rs. 115-130 Crore. Ready’s collection may start to suffer by third weekend, when Double Dhamaal releases.
