Harry Potter creates worldwide opening day record, ZNMD has good weekend

As expected, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 has made ripples worldwide becoming the highest-grossing opening weekend ever. At the Indian Box Office, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara also performed well.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 drew an estimated $168.55 million on around 11,000 screens at 4,375 locations, dethroning The Dark Knight’s $158.4 million. In India as well, the movie has opened to packed houses. You can read Harry Potter movie review here.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara had a good first weekend of around 26.25-26.50 crore nett as per early estimates due to great opening in multiplexes across India. The film opened weak on single screens and that may prevent it from becoming a blockbuster. But the movie has generally opened to some good reviews and Hrithik’s star power may ensure that movie becomes a Super Hit.

Murder 2 also continued its strong run at the Box Office and has now been declared second Block Buster Movie of 2011 after Salman Khan’s Ready.
