Anna Hazare detained, Congress trying to kill democracy

Activist Anna Hazare was detained from his house on Tuesday morning by Delhi Police, just ahead of his scheduled fast at Jai Prakash Narain Park in Delhi.

Along with Anna, his supporters and Arvind Kejriwal was also detained. 74 year old Anna has a huge fan following across the country and his campaign against corruption and setting up of a Jan Lokpal bill has gathered huge support across India. Congress Govt at the center has been skeptical of Anna’s fast from the start. Many feel Anna’s fast can eventually lead to toppling of the Govt, which has been scam tainted in past few years.

Former IPS officer and strong supporter of Anna Hazare’s movement, kiran Bedi termed the detention unconstitutional and undemocratic. She said “I have been saying that the Delhi Police is being given directions. He has been taken into preventive custody even when he has not broken any law. Emergency has revisited the country. This detention is unconstitutional and undemocratic.”
