Delhi High Court bomb blast kills 10, injures 65

A bomb blast outside the Delhi High Court has killed 10 people and injured 65 others. The blast occurred outside Gate No. 5 of Delhi High Court.

The bomb was apparently kept in a briefcase at the Delhi High Court. The court premises is one of the most secure areas in the country, heavily guarded by police. The Parliament, PM’s Office and India Gate are all close by to the High Court and as such these areas form the highest security areas in Delhi.

It must be remembered that a bomb exploded here at the High Court’s parking lot just a few months back in May 2011. No one was injured at the time. But our Home Minister said as usual that the security will be tightened and everything will be done to prevent such incidents.

Truth of the matter is that Govt has shown its weakness in all fronts. P Chidambaram has failed the country as a Home Minister. One after the other, we keep getting terror arrests across India and we keep losing innocent lives. Govt has enough money from tax payers and they just give out compensations and expect that people will forget soon about the blasts. But the truth is, we will keep getting killed by terrorists till we have weak Govt at the center which can’t dare to hang terrorists like Afzal Guru and Kasab.

Meanwhile, news reports are coming in which suggest that Pakistan-based terrorist group Harkat-ul-Jihad Islami (HuJI) has claimed the responsibility for the blast. HuJI, in an email sent to the media, wrote, “We own the responsibility for today’s blasts at Delhi high court. Our demand is that Mohammed Afzal Guru’s death sentence should be repealed immediately else we would target major high courts and the Supreme Court of India.”
