Andhra Pradesh coast on high alert to face cyclonic storm Thane

Andhra Pradesh coast has been put on high alert to face the cyclonic storm Thane, which is expected to hit northern Tamil Nadu coast on Friday morning.

Chittoor ditrcit in Rayalaseema region and three districts in south coastal Andhra have been put on high alert. Very heavy rainfall and strong gales are expected in the region. Districts of Nellore, Guntur, Prakasam and Chittoor have been put under surveillance to monitor the search and rescue operations when required.

11 fishermen from Kakinada were rescued today when they were found stranded in their boat at the high sea. For the cyclonic storm Thane a red alert has already been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department. The storm is expected to mainly hit the north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra coasts.
